MongoDB on Azure – Onsite in New York City!

Excitement is in the air for the MongoDB community and Microsoft Open Technologies, Inc. this week as MongoDB’s inaugural global community event -MongoDB World is now underway at the Sheraton in New York City. I’m here and I’ll be around for the whole event – I’m looking forward to meeting the global MongoDB community!

Today I’m sharing new offerings from MongoDB, Inc and MongoLab that make it easier to build, run, and scale MongoDB applications in the cloud. I also want to tell you about some hot giveaways for conference attendees!

Announcing General Availability of the new MongoDB, inc. Service on Azure!

MongoDB today announced its first fully-managed, highly available MongoDB-Enterprise-as-a-service offering available as an Add-On in the Microsoft Azure Store.

The new service runs MongoDB Enterprise and makes it easier to deploy MongoDB applications in the cloud by offering replication, monitoring and support from MongoDB, Inc. It is the only database-as-a-service (DBaaS) offering available directly from MongoDB Inc., and the only one backed up byMongoDB Management Service (MMS), allowing for point-in-time recovery of MongoDB deployments.

MongoLab –More data centers and new higher-memory options

MongoLab’s popular hosted MongoDB-Community-as-a-service offering on Azure is available in the USA via the Azure store (West US and East US), and also more data centers via the MongoLab portal. Here’s a screen shot of currently available data centers:

Also, if you’re looking for a cost-effective hosting plan for dedicated servers on Microsoft Azure, I encourage you to check out MongoLab’s higher-end offerings in the Azure Store.
